Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter Dies at 100

ATLANTA (Dec. 29, 2024) — Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States and recipient of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, at his home in Plains, Georgia, surrounded by his family. The former president was 100 years old, which makes him the longest-living president in the U.S. history.
President Carter is survived by his four children: Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Jimmy Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalynn, children, grand children and one grandchild.

There will be public memorials held in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., followed by a private interment in Plains, Georgia. The final details of President Carter’s state funeral, including public events and motorcade routes, are still being arranged.
