Kim Kardashian shared her thoughts on daughter North West, 11, entering show business and what it's like being her "momager" now.
Move over Kris Jenner, there's a new momager in town.
Kim Kardashian is continuing her family tradition of mothers managing their kids as her 11-year-old daughter, North West, continues to take on projects in show business.
"She'll get an offer to do a photo shoot or something. And like, we really sit and talk about it as a family," Kim explained on the Jan. 31 episode of Sara Foster and Erin Foster's World's First Podcast. "Like, 'Should she do this? What's too much? What's not?'"
When Erin asked if the SKIMS founder—who shares North, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5, with ex Kanye West—has been able to protect her oldest daughter's youth as she's grown up in the spotlight, Kim confessed that it's been a challenge to do so.
"I can't, like…they're already in it, right? Because just of who their parents are," she explained. "And so I try to protect that and be so mindful of them being their own people and them not feeling like they have to, you know, be in our shadows."
The Kardashians star went on to stress that she doesn't pressure North into taking on projects like rapping on FKA Twigs' new song "Childlike Things" and appearing on the cover of Interview Magazine. In fact, she genuinely wants to take such projects on.
"When these things come about, she wants to do it so badly. She wants to even if it's not her craft or she wants to learn," Kim shared. "She just genuinely wants to do it and then the other kids will get voiceovers and then I'll hear them so proud of each other when they do it, and want to go and support and they all want one."
The American Horror Story actress—who, despite her busy schedule, regularly drops her kids off at school—explained that she needs to take full days off when North takes on creative jobs.
"When they work and I have to be there, I have to see every last thing," Kim said. "I'm just like, it has to be worth it for us to make a decision. If North has something and I have to take off filming to do something with her, it just has to be a family decision and really important to her."
And, even though she enjoys seeing North pursue her passions, taking on the role of her manager isn't something she feels prepared for.
"There's so much that I've stopped because it's too much," Kim divulged, "and I'm really not ready to be a momager, and I'm kind of forced into this."
