A royal commentator has spilled the tea on where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle currently rank in Tinseltown following a biting Vanity Fair piece. The US magazine didn't shy away from critiquing the Sussexes' stateside saga in a feature commemorating their five-year "Megxit" anniversary.
Daily Mail's Maureen Callahan dished out her thoughts with podcast host Kinsey Schofield on Recollections May Vary: "This cover story has a lot of teeth which is something most publications no longer have."
She continued: "Vanity Fair thought that they could take a wrecking ball to these two and just obliterate them, it tells you everything we need to know about where they stand in the industry. Whether it's publishing, podcasting, streaming. It followed the Hollywood Reporter story, which basically said Hollywood is done with them."
The article also peeked behind the curtain, interviewing various insiders, including those who've collaborated with the couple. Meanwhile, Meghan's new Netflix series With Love, Meghan has been delayed until March 4 due to the California wildfires, despite its initial scheduled release, reports the Express.
Following the article, an insider disclosed to Closer that "of course, everyone in the Palace has been talking about Meghan and Harry after they received such a damaging profile in Vanity Fair – which is shocking all round."
The source elaborated, saying, "Kate [Middleton] has had the toughest year of her life, which has put everything into perspective. The truth is she's done with the drama with Harry and Meghan and is determined to go about her life without being involved."
Kate was diagnosed with cancer last year and recently announced she is in remission.
They concluded: "But does she feel vindicated? Absolutely!"
The Vanity Fair article, titled Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Big Business Ambitions, 5 Years After Their Royal Exit, unveiled a series of allegations from former employees of Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43. Some alleged they were compelled to sign an 'NDA' (Non-Disclosure Agreement), prohibiting them from discussing the couple or the reasons behind their abrupt departures, reports the Daily Record.
