An updated map shows the locations of the seven major wildfires burning in and around Los Angeles as of Thursday morning, with the stakes growing higher and higher for those battling them.
A new blaze, the Sunset Fire, sparked late last night, forcing evacuations throughout some of L.A.'s most famous neighborhoods as fears that the iconic Hollywood sign might be engulfed in flames arose.
Some other, seemingly more minor fires sprung up in neighboring counties, according to two interactive interactive maps published by NBC News and CNN, which have been dubbed the Olivas and the Lidia Fires.

The fires are reportedly being fueled by incredibly powerful winds, with reports on Wednesday indicating gusts of up to 100 mph, as well as incredibly dry conditions, which has resulted in red flag warnings being issued in at least six Southern California counties as well as some in nearby Arizona and Nevada, including the Las Vegas area.
Five people are now dead, but the number of significant injuries from the fires is unknown. A Los Angeles County fire official told NBC News that there are too many to count at the moment. A city official told the publication on Tuesday night that the fires are "one of the most devastating and terrifying" things she's ever seen.
The fires are already being dubbed the most destructive in L.A. history. Daniel Swain, a climate scientist, told NBC News, "This is getting worse and worse the more information we get."

A map from the National Weather Service shows Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties — the same six counties as Wednesday — still under red flag warnings as forecasters warn that they could experience wildfires next should new ones spark or the existing ones spread.
Over 100,000 people have reportedly been evacuated from the Eaton Fire alone, which is burning near a canyon close to Angeles National Forest just north of the major West Coast metropolitan hub.
Another 37,000 were evacuated from the Palisades Fire in several cities, including Calabasas, Malibu and Los Angeles itself, and over 3,000 people left Sylmar under emergency orders, officials said. The list of fires includes the Palisades Fire, the Hurst Fire, the Woodley Fire, the Olivas Fire, the Lidia Fire, the Sunset Fire and the Eaton Fire.

Over 1,000 homes have been destroyed by the fires, which continue to grow at little to no containment. Firefighters are making progress on a couple of them, but they ran out of water on Wednesday night, it was reported, and are struggling to find other means of extinguishing the flames.
"There is a lot of damage out there," an official told NBC News, with a preliminary review from J.P. Morgan's insurance analysts estimate that losses could top $10 billion. It's already catching up to California's deadliest wildfire in history, the 2018 Camp Fire, which killed 85 people and burned over 13,000 buildings, resulting in around $15 billion in losses.
The major fires currently burning that fire crews are under the most pressure to quell are the Palisades Fire, which has engulfed over 15,000 acres as of Wednesday afternoon, the Eaton Fire, which is burning over 10,000 acres, the Hurst Fire, which is covering over 500 acres just north of San Fernando and the Sunset Fire, which sparked last night and is small but which threatens the Hollywood sign.
