Kanye West was recently spotted in a rare outing with three of his kids with ex-wife Kim Kardashian in a surprisingly low-key location in Japan.
The “Carnival” rapper took sons Saint, 9, and Psalm, 5, and daughter Chicago, 7, to a 7-Eleven convenience store in Tokyo’s Ginza district, per Page Six, where the family was spotted shopping for snacks. (Such a classic kid move!) In the photos, West is dressed in a black hoodie over black pants as he walks with his kids around the store. Chicago has a white hoodie with black pants and boots, Saint has a gray hoodie with red pants and boots, and Psalm has an all-black outfit like his dad, with slides over socks. All three kids were carrying plastic bags filled with goodies as they were photographed exiting the store.
A source told Daily Mail that the foursome were in the store for about 10 minutes picking out snacks. They arrived in a black van with bodyguards and West declined selfies with passing fans.
“A black van pulled out the front and all of a sudden the kids have gone running in and Kanye followed behind, trying to hide in the 7-Eleven with his hood up,” an onlooker told the outlet. “The kids were buying up the store — they had two carrier bags full of random lollipops and snacks.”
West and Kardashian’s eldest child North, 11, was not present, nor was West’s wife Bianca Censori.
Previously, sources revealed that Kardashian is not happy about West potentially permanently relocating to Tokyo. “Rumors have been swirling for a while that Kanye intends to relocate to Tokyo and renegotiate his custody terms with Kim, because he’ll want the kids to travel there frequently once he’s settled,” an insider told InTouch Weekly in October.
“It obviously poses all sorts of complications and challenges from a logistical point of view, and Kim’s very worried about what the future holds if he goes ahead,” the source added. “She’ll lawyer up and likely fight him every step if necessary, but it’s obviously the last thing she wants or needs to be dealing with. It’s got Kim’s head swirling and she’s obligated to apprise herself of the situation. But to say she finds it sordid and stressful is an understatement.”
That has to be so hard! Co-parenting itself is hard, but when your ex lives halfway around the world? That is so challenging — even if you have a private jet!
Still, with the wildfires that have been raging across Los Angeles, Kardashian must be relieved to have a safe place to send her kids. And the kids seem to enjoy these low-key moments with their dad, too. In a Nov. 2023 episode of The Kardashians, the SKKN founder shared about North, “She’ll go to her dad’s. She’ll be like, ‘Dad’s the best! He has it all figured out. He doesn’t have a nanny, he doesn’t have a chef, he doesn’t have security, he lives in an apartment.’ And she’ll start crying: ‘Why don’t you have an apartment? I can’t believe we don’t have an apartment!’”
It’s not easy, but spoiling the kids with candy and snacks during a stressful time is such a normal parent move, we love to see it. As long as they are happy and safe, that’s all that matters, and West and Kardashian seem to think the same.
