Cameron Diaz’s return to the silver screen has been met with special praise from one celebrity in particular.
After more than a decade away from film, Diaz is starring in the Netflix comedy “Back in Action” alongside Jamie Foxx.
Foxx told USA Today he couldn’t help but cheer her on with admiration.
“It was great to see Cameron back,” he recalled. “I was back there behind the monitor like, ‘You’ve got to see this!’”
Director Seth Gordon told USA Today that Foxx playfully claimed Diaz was the true “star” of the film and he was just her “bodyguard.” Diaz, meanwhile, praised Foxx for being a “good cheerleader” during filming.
Foxx previously sang Diaz’s praises in a 2022 interview with “Entertainment Tonight” shortly after he announced her casting in “Back in Action.”
“Cameron is such an incredible force and she has done so much in this business,” Foxx said. “We love her. We had to be very innovative in how we, you know, brought her back.”

Diaz announced her retirement from Hollywood in 2018, during a women’s empowerment event. Her last movie at the time was “Annie,” which also starred Foxx.
“It felt like the right thing for me, to reclaim my own life, and I just really didn’t care about anything else,” she said. “I think it really comes to, what are you passionate about? For me, it was to build my family.”
