Celebrate KC and the Sunshine Band’s 50 years in music Friday at the F.M Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, 71 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre. The Grammy Award-winning band has sold over 100 million records with songs such as “Get Down Tonight,” and “That’s The Way (I Like It).” Tickets start at $53, plus fees. The free Northeastern Pennsylvania Home & Garden Show is Friday through Sunday at Mohegan Arena, with vendors and displays on all aspects of home improvement. Folk’s Butterfly Farm will display monarch and painted lady butterflies. Kids can check out an activity zone. Black History Month kicks off at the Black Scranton Project Center for Arts & Culture, 1902 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with free events: a reception Saturday and film festival Sunday. Saturday’s family-friendly reception, from 2 to 5 p.m., will feature art and other displays, and chances to connect with the community over refreshments. RSVP required: blackscranton.org. On Sunday, a collection of local documentaries, called Taking Up Space, will be shown from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
The 13th annual Carve 4 Cancer is back at Montage Mountain Resort on Saturday, with ski and snowboard demonstrations, awards for banked slalom and rail jam and a party with live music in the lodge. From 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Information: carve4cancer.com. It benefits the Live Like Brent Foundation.
Escape winter to play 18 holes of mini golf inside, with a course winding through the historic Albright Memorial Library and Lackawanna County Children’s Library at Sunday’s Family Mini Golf Fundraiser, from noon to 4 p.m. The library is also teeing up cash prizes for a golf ball drop contest and other festivities.
