President-elect Donald Trump will officially become the 47th president of the United States today.
Trump will be sworn in as president for the second time during inauguration ceremonies in Washington, D.C., along with Vice President-elect JD Vance.
Here’s a look at when the Inauguration Day ceremonies will begin and what the schedule looks like.
Inauguration Day is the day when the president-elect and vice-president-elect are sworn in and take office, according to USA.gov.
Typically, Inauguration Day occurs on Jan. 20 (or Jan. 21 if Jan. 20 falls on a Sunday), every four years. The inauguration ceremony will be held inside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. due to the extreme cold.
The swearing-in ceremony will begin today at noon ET.
Major broadcast networks, including ABC, CBS, CNN, CSPAN, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC and PBS, will air the inauguration live.
You can also stream the inauguration live on the White House’s live stream and the NewsNation app, as well as through streaming services that offer broadcast networks such as Hulu, YouTube TV, and Sling TV.
USA TODAY will be streaming the event live. Click here to watch.
Tomorrow, there will be a National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral.
Country star Carrie Underwood is slated to sing “America the Beautiful,” a Presidential Inaugural Committee spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY. The country singer will be accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in a statement to USA TODAY. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
Country singer Lee Greenwood will perform his hit song “God Bless the USA” during the inauguration Monday, he confirmed Wednesday on Fox News. He previously performed at Trump’s first inauguration in 2017.
Other performers include Opera singer Christopher Macchioperforming the national anthem at the swearing-in ceremony, and the Village People.
The theme of the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies is “Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise,” according to the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.
The theme “recognizes the Founders’ commitment to future generations of Americans to preserve the continuity and stability of our democratic system of government.”
