It used to be that most TV shows were not offered a second chance after their final episode aired. However, to the delight of fans, more streaming services are now picking up older shows and giving them a reboot.
Fans of the Portland-based show “Grimm” can now rejoice that the iconic series is getting a second chance with a movie nearly eight years after the show ended, according to a report from Deadline.
Here’s what to know.
“Grimm” follows Portland Police detective Nicholas Burkhardt, played by David Giuntoli, as he navigates his life and career after finding out he is a Grimm, a supernatural being who can see mythical creatures.
The series aired in 2011 and ran for six seasons on NBC before ending in 2017. It was filmed in many different locations throughout Portland that still attract fans today.
While the date, premise and setting of the “Grimm” reboot is currently unknown, the movie is currently in development by NBC streaming service Peacock.
“It is believed to have ties to the series for diehard fans but could also be easily accessed by new viewers not familiar with the original mythology,” according to Deadline.
The Deadline report said production of the movie will be headed by Josh Berman (”Drop Dead Diva”) and original “Grimm” showrunners including David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf and Sean Hayes, alongside Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions, and Universal Television.
During its six-season run, “Grimm” was one of NBC’s “highest-rated scripted series, and also did well internationally for NBCUniversal,” according to Deadline.
People can currently stream episodes of the show on Peacock and Amazon Prime Video.
