POSTVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – Representative Ashley Hinson said she will be at President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration later this month.
She said she’s looking forward to working with the President.
This week Trump was sentenced in his hush money trial, but the judge did not issue a punishment.
Hinson said she was happy with the judge’s decision, but doesn’t think the sentence should have happened in the first place.
“I think the American people clearly realized what all of those trials were. They saw them as political targeting and they were,” Hinson said. “He shouldn’t have been sentenced. He had the immunity and the courts found that to be true,” Hinson said.
Trump has also floated the idea of renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America but Hinson said she isn’t sure that would actually happen.
“In all these conversations we’re having, whether it’s about the Panama Canal, whether it’s about Greenland, whether it’s about the Gulf of Mexico or Gulf of America. I think it’s about making sure we’re reasserting ourselves and putting American interests first,” Hinson said. “So that’s what I’m looking forward to working with the President on,” she said.
