A North Carolina man, Harry Irvine Burdick Jr., has been arrested and charged with two felony counts of bigamy after marrying three women simultaneously across three different counties – Lincoln, Davidson, and Guilford. The investigation, which began in April 2025, revealed that Burdick had obtained multiple marriage licenses without filing for divorce from his previous marriages.

Authorities believe Burdick’s motive was financial and personal gain, and they’re urging potential victims to come forward. Bigamy is a Class I felony in North Carolina, punishable by imprisonment. Burdick was released on a written promise to appear in court and is scheduled to appear on September 22, 2025.
